does anyone in zone 4 have experience s0wing bell of ireland directly into the garden? I can't find any starter plants and I'm desparate to have them. I understand they will self-seed once established. Northern growers with experience please reply! thank you.

RE: bells of ireland

Sorry for lateness of this response, since it's probably too late for this year, but I've grown these successfully in zone 5 Nebraska for years. I don't even have to replant them anymore; they do reseed heavily and I move them around where I want them in the spring. What a great plant! When they're grown well, they're one that always sparks questions from visitors. And I'm a big fan of the fragrance. By all means, plant them next year ... just scatter some seeds early in the spring, and you'll have Bells forever. Dan
