Just like the ornamental pepper, I bought this as pineapple sage and planted it in early May. The plant ultimately grew to about 7' tall and 6' wide. And while it grew very fast in nearly all day sun, it didn't begin blooming until the third week of September. Is it supposed to grow to this size and bloom so late? Thanks.

That's very typical. In frost free locations, it will bloom all winter.

Your over wintering hummingbirds are thanking you for providing a choice winter feed. When the bloom season is over, I cut mine down to about a foot high to remove old growth. New growth will soon take over from the base. Al
