I am growing a few annuals that I havent used before. Moss Verbena is one that I am wondering if I should leave in small clusters - as opposed to moving each to an individual small pot. Plants like Alyssum and Lobelia I always leave in groups of 6- 10 (or more) in a 2" put. Does Moss verbena fall into this category, or does each individual plant bush out quite a bit? I am also growing a Dianthus (forgot the type) that I am considering doing the same thing with, but images I have seen on the web appear that they do each grow into a small mound, so that may not be wise. Any voices of experience out there?

I also plant lobelia and alyssum in clumps but I do them in clumps of 3 or 4 Moss verbena is a perennial and so are some dianthus. I don't know what yours are but neither dianthus put on a great show planted singly. I would do them in clumps of 3. That allows them to spread out a bit and give you a better show this year and if they are perennials you can always divide them next year or the year after

The moss verbena I have is definitely a tender perennial - so for me it will be an annual, I think this dianthus has a chance of coming back. I'll do as you suggest and transplant them in small groups. Thanks for the advice.
