Crazy request: has anyone braided Four O'clocks?

Hi all,
I'm posting this on the annual forum because I can't find an answer online, but has anyone grown Four O'Clocks in a large container by braiding 3-4 plants?

Several years ago I saw a striking planter on a patio at an outdoor event. It was a tall planter that contained four of these typical annuals, but instead of being bushy, they were grown in a tall braided form-- I'd sat about a 1-2 ft trunk with all the leaves and flowers bushing out above the "trunk". I'm guessing there was a stake in the middle of plants to strengthen & encourage the braid.

This year I've grown some of these as seeds and would love some tips before transplanting and attempting to train them. I know, I know ---- it's sometimes not good to fool with Mother Nature. But maybe someone here as has success with this or can offer advice?
Thanks so much,
Molie
