| I planted some ranunculus in a pot a week or two ago. I was wondering how long do I have to wait before I start seeing them sprouting?
I notice the Casa Blanca Lily inthe next pot is already up, but that particular plant is rather vigorous. Paul |

| in my very limited experience with ranunculus i seem to think its a hot season plant.. [i have no clue why] and if the pot is outdoors.. and your nights are still slipping into the 30's ... its going to take a while for them to start growing with vigor ... and my experience is limited.. because i failed.. the standard 3 times.. and gave up ... but i never tried pots ... in other words .. its not on the 'easy' list.. in my world ... and.. you cant compare apples and oranges.. with the lily ... ken |

| I planted a lot of Ranunculus this year both inside and out. Ken is correct, temperature is everything when starting Ranunculus. If the soil or mix is too cool they not only will take three times as long to sprout, many will rot and not sprout at all. Al |

| boy that was a WAG on my part.. lol sooo.. bring the pot indoors for the night warmth.. JUST UNTIL it breaks surface.. by which time it will warm up outdoors ... ken |

| Great, I didn't realize ranunculus would need warmer temperature. Since it's been so cold outside, I should have left the pot inside until it sprouted. Thanks. Paul |

| I thought Ranunculus was a cold weather plant and they've done well for me treating them that way. I usually sprout them in my unheated basement. They usually start to show after a week or two. Then I move them outside and I leave them outside unless it's going below freezing. I have a gorgeous pot on my back deck right now - doing well with 10-12ËšC days and nights around 0-2ËšC. They die off once the weather turns warm. Then back into the basement for storage until next year. |

| an unheated basement.. would give you a pot media temp of around say.. 50 degrees.. minimum ... in the last week.. we had 3 nights still into the 30's .. and that means.. the soil.. at night.. is near 30 degrees.. and NOTHING will become actively growing.. at those temps ... or i should say.. vigorously growing ... so its comparing apples to oranges .. w/o knowing the soil temps outdoors .. at whatever depth you planted them ... are they up yet.. this post is getting a bit old ... ken |

| Ok, I was lazy and left then outside. Mines starting coming up a week ago. At least I assume they are Ranunculus. Who knows, they may be weed that got into the pot :-) Paul |
