| I planted a full pack of morning glory seeds in peat pots and put them in a sheltered location. The 4 o'clocks in pots next to them have taken off but not one of the morning glories has sprouted. I wonder if it's been too cold for them to wake up. It's been in the low to mid 50's at night and 70 to 78 or so in the day. |
Follow-Up Postings:

| Did you pre-treat the seeds in order to facilitate speedy germination? Soaking and scarification are the two most common methods, I believe. |
|
| You didn't say how long ago you planted them. I'd give them at least 3 weeks at those kinds of temps -- soil is probably averaging in the low 60s with those kind of air temps. Morning Glory is very easy to germinate, as long as you keep them moist, I doubt that they will fail unless the seeds themselves were somehow bad, old or had been exposed to extremes of heat. |
|
| Mine haven't either. I'm not worried as it seems my neighbors also haven't yet. Give them some time. Or dig up and try soaking overnight and re planting. |

| Self sown morning glories started to sprout about a week ago in my backyard in Brooklyn. The seeds that overwinter in the ground seem to sprout better. This seems to be the normal time for them.I am busy pulling them out. They take over! |
