Just wanted to do a shout out to the person upstairs for giving me 250 free volunteers petunias. They are in many different colors, some fragrant, some tall, some short, different bloom sizes. Just amazing. Hopefully I will be a good enough gardener that you will give free petunias next year. Amen

Ken, very appropriate. Thanks. But actually I sang that when I found 42 amaryllis seedlings that just showed up this spring, perhaps from seeds that were hanging around the garage and which I tossed in the garden a couple of years ago. I watched them as they grew and when I finally determined what they were I broke out in sung. :-) Volunteers and pleasant garden surprises always bring a "Thank you!" (to above) and maybe a refrain of "Hallelujah" from me. I consider each one a gift.

Bugbite - I understand the sentiment completely! Here in MI everything comes on so fast in the spring, it's like an explosion of green. And after what was one of the coldest and longest winters in my memory, I am amazed to see that almost all of my transplants from last year are alive and, in some cases, setting buds for bloom. So, to follow up on Ken's contribution, here is Beethoven's Ode to Joy:

Thanks SamHain, Almost 42 Million views says it all. That song is like my garden as it comes on slowly to build up to the peak and a great finish, then the heat sets in. I received "yard of the month" based on the garden performance depicted in the last 20 seconds on that song. Then it stops and I am scrambling with a "Yard of the Month" sign after the song ends. I am glad to hear about the great come back for your plants. We also had some cold this year which wiped out many plants but it also seemed to improve performance of others. Thanks for the post.
