Bracteantha (Xerochrysum) bracteata

At my church sale, I purchased some Bracteantha (Xerochrysum) bracteata to help one of the members go on a school trip, but now I have no idea how to plant the thing. I am in zone 5a, so it won't survive in the winter.

If I plant it outside, is there a way to get a cutting so I can restart it next year? Anyone have experience growing this? I was thinking of planting it hear some butterfly weed.

Paul

I thought that I had answered your question earlier this week....sorry. Strawflowers are not annuals but tender perennials and as such, can be propagated by cuttings or seed.

If you've not planted these before, you'll be surprised at how large they can become so give them plenty of elbowroom, at least a foot apart from other plants. Full sun, for best results.
