How about some coleus or potato vine, that's lime colored/light green? Makes the red and the pinks pop more, and distracts the eye from trying to blend the reds and pinks together.

I'm sure any visitor would say your colors are beautiful.
The more colors the better. Flowers just kinda go together, unlike most other uses of color.
The only, "lack of color sense" when it comes to flowers is when you lack flowers.
So when you talk about your flowers to visitors don't start out negative and I'm sure you will get complements.

unless your roses are an orange-y red, they ought to be fine with the pink and purple flowers -- for Valentine's Day, florists often use those colors together and they look very pretty.

Okay. Maybe this question itself came out of a lack of color sense. I'll just leave them as they are, and see how they look going forward. The red knockout roses are hot pink-ish red..but closer to red.

@ started_with_bean: there is a row of boxwood in between but my eyes managed to blend those colors. haha

if you can post the pic of the basket.. why not a pic of your bed

if the whole bed is petunia [rather low] ... and rose [mid to higher] .... perhaps you are lacking a mid range vertical ... and that is where you could intro the next color....

and there is no reason it could be done now.... it isnt even june.. here in MI.. we technically arent even past our frost free date .. in fact. i am surprised your roses have bloomed already ...

Pure white is a great mediator.

I *hate* red and pink and red and purple together, so I totally get where you're coming from, the color combo of the rose w/the basket would be enough to make me rip something out, I couldn't take it. For me, the rose would probably go - just not a fan of that hot pink-red knockout color :0/

But, if you have a higher tolerance level than I do, just wait until next year to plant a different color of annual - red/hot pink and white petunias would look much better with the Knockout rose. :0)
