| What direction is it facing? (In other words, how many hours of direct sunlight?) This is a completely blank slate. You could choose any colors that you like, and I wouldn't hesitate to make it bold. |

| Agreed. You have wonderful bones there. Beautiful door, stairs, and pots. They are crying out for big, bold, and colorful. Where do you live? And, as rhizo said, what direction does your porch face? With those pieces of info, we can give you plenty of ideas for plants and schemes. (If you put a big bold plant like canna or elephant ear in those pots, they will look more in proportion size wise.) |

| Oh, you could do so many things. If it's not exposed to harsh, drying conditions, you could do azaleas, which are beautiful both in bloom and out of bloom. I would do roses, I think, if you have the sunlight. Fragrant roses that bloom nearly all season. They require some effort on your part, but seeing their beauty and catching the heady scent of fragrant rose blossoms as you walk in the door is a joy. And those pots aren't too big for them. This is a picture of a David Austin rose (David Austin roses are beautiful and often fragrant):
