Tonight I was throwing some orange peels away in the corner of the back yard inside where the hedge has died off, it's not quite a compost pile but I have been using the site as such. Well something caught my eye; I thought it was an orange flag marking a gas line but on closer inspection it was a flower from the tops from my etiolated nasturtiums I had thrown in there about 3 weeks ago! I should have taken a picture but I was too excited and picked it. I decided I'd plant the tops so I went to dig them out but they had no roots and were just sitting on top of leaves. Either E.T. The extraterrestrial visited my back yard or these are some really tough plants! I picked off some of the dried leaves and just burried the stems in the flower bed. Hopefully they will take root. They seem to have lots of tiny flower buds forming and new leaf growth.
