Dianthus Red Peppermint blooms

Hello,
This year, I bought a flat of Dianthus Red Peppermint and put them all in various pots. Some are doing well, but some are wilting and dying before the buds bloom. The foliage is green and healthy - no signs of disease/insects. What can be wrong??
