| Hello i am new to this part of the fourm! What do you think of profusion zinnias (orange, and cherry)? Has anyone on here saved seeds from them and goten an offspring? Did the offspring look like the profusion zinnias or were they just were alot of different kinds of offsprings? Thank you! Grantgarden2 |

| It is not that I do not believe zenman. After all, he is the ultimate zinnia expert. However, I can tell you that I have saved and sowed those seeds for profusions several times with very poor success. I save lots of seeds. I start lots of seeds every year. But on this one, I have given up and buy seed each year. They are great plants. The rose colored ones are lovely, but the color fades badly here. You are further north, so that may not be an issue. But if your temps rise to 90 in the day times, it might be. As to orange, I much prefer Fire. It is more of a rich red/orange color and is very showy, especially in fall. The orange is more the color of pumpkins, and again, it tends to fade some here. My one complaint about Profusions is a lack of uniformity. Out of every dozen or so plants, I always seem to get one that is twice as tall as all the others. Don't know why that is.... You might also want to look at Zaharas, which are very similar to Profusions. The yellow Zahara is a cool yellow. The Profusion Yellow is a very warm yellow. |
