I hear that petunias are quite easy to start from seed, and the waves are available from seed. So, you could get them started even earlier and not need to search for the scraggly ones on sale. That patch you have is beautiful and lush.

I was considering the seeds. The cost about 60 cents each. Then you have to buy the pots, soiless medium etc.
I always find the ones I am looking for in 3" pots at lowes for $1.00 each...I also have found a dealer at the local flea market who sells them for $1.00 each.

Those are beauties. I've had mine for 3 years and they come back each Spring. At the end of the season, I just crumple the seed heads and branches into the flower pot and walk away. I've been rewarded for 3 seasons. The most fun is watching the variation in colors from year to year. Here is a pic of this year's blooms.

Are those the Wave Petunias? I didn't know whether they would come true or not, but yours are beautiful. I'd be tempted to buy a few plants and save the seeds from them for next year.

They are wave petunias. They were purple for the first season. I also have some million bells that re-seeded as well. They were cherry pink, but in their 3rd year, they are a mix of pinks and whites.
I didn't save the seeds per se. Just made sure that everything went back into the pot during the end of summer and early Fall. Of course I have never seen seeds on the million bells so the fact that they re-seed is a mystery to me.

Beautiful petunias! I really like the "waves" too.
