If you can post a photo, even better! If not, a brief description OK. Both common and botanical name when possible.
1) C. Plumosa (5ft purple incredible plumes)
2) C. Crestata (dk pink fans on 4ft plants)
3) C. spicata (need description)
4) C. ______? 'flamingo feather' (small pink spikes on 2ft plants)
5) C. _____? ' red velvet' (large fans on 4ft plants)*
6) C. 'amigo' (dwarf remains under 12" tall for most of the season, maroon fans)
7) C. _____? 'Love lies bleeding' (maroon cascading spikes on 5ft plants)*
8) C. _____? (yellow plumes on 2 ft plants)
9) C. _____? (pink cascading plumes on 5ft plants) This one I have from seed that came from Monticello.
*I need this variety. Got seeds? I can share seeds.

Celosia is in several forms...the most often seen are the C. Cristata and C. Plumosa and C. Spicata. Among those forms there are different varieties that are different colors, different heights and who's leaves are different colors. The ones with flowers like big fans or cocks combs are the Cristata forms and can be in several different colors, the Plumosa are the ones like plumes and the Spicata are the ones called Wheat flowered. Included in these broad categorys are named varieties. Your number 8 would be a C. Plumosa because of the form. #4 Flamingo Feather is a Spicata color, While the red velvet would be a cristata form. Hope I have helped. Linda C |

Hi, I just got seeds this year in trade for Celosia. I'm hoping they are the tall plume ones. I never realized they grew like that! Love Lies Bleeding is a type of Amaranthus not Celosia. Remy |

Hi, I grow the red velvet looking Crested Celosia Cristata. They are one of my favorites. I do have a picture but I do not know how to post on here. But they are very pretty. |

This one came up from a pack of Celosia plumosa seeds, and it has plumosa-like parts on the same plant, but clearly it looks like Amaranth. Celosia is in the Amaranthaea family, so it gets a bit confusing. |

| I planted two qt size pots of Flamingo Feather Purple in late May this year. The tag said to expect 42"-48" growth. They are now 72" tall and 60" wide. Still going strong with over 100 5"-8" blooms which started showing in early July. Beautiful dark foliage and showy blooms but they have swallowed my fothergilla. I'll plant them again next year, just not in the same spot! |

Have you ever seen this variety of celosia cristata? This is cream white with pink edges.

| Speaking of awesome, tsflowers, that pink & white is absolutely breathtaking! I'd be hunting for seed on it for sure! I'll probably be buying these this spring - the pictures are different from anything I've ever seen, although I have never grown any celosia before. Here's the URL, I was particulaly taken with a flower arrangement that have on the page. http://www.sunriseseeds.com/ANNUALS A-C.0.html BOMBAY CELOSIA PURPLE An outstanding Cockscomb Celosia with large purple flowers. I have a lot of the Bombay looking flowers in my garden. They have just occurred due to cross pollination. I really don't like them. I definitely wouldn't pay $3.75 for 10 seeds. I do have a cross which I really like. I call it Mr. Fluffy. I believe it must have been a cross with my celosia plumosa (which I no longer grow) and celosia cristata. I have saved the seeds and am going to try to grow it by itself to try to get the purest strain possible. Here's a photo:

| That's really nice! I don't mind paying the big bucks for seed I really want since I've been getting so much in trade. Lime |
