Zinnias - your favourite singles

Next year I promised the wife the cutting garden would be to her likes, which is single Zinnia's. I have grown lots of profusion, state fair, zharra, pinwheels etc for singles but would like to see what your favourites are. I am dedicating 4-500 plants for her so would love to add your fav cultivars for variety. Color is irrelevant due to quantity.

Thanks in advance.

Hi SCG,

The Whirligig strain from Park Seed has a high percentage of singles. Those zinnias come in an amazing array of two-color and three-color blooms, and the single flower form shows off those individual color schemes to a good advantage. I prefer double zinnias myself, so I get my Whirligigs from Stokes Seeds, whose grower maintains a Whirligig strain with a high percentage of doubles. But double Whirligigs do lay petal-over-petal, which tends to conceal the remarkable petal colorations that the singles display so well. The single Whirligigs can have some spectacular blooms in an almost endless variety of color combinations.

Thanks zenman, that is great news about the whirligig. I usually get my seeds from stokes but will try parks. I, too, prefer doubles and such never paid much attention to the singles or semi doubles the wife likes better.

Thanks for the suggestion
