join a local garden club ... meet local peeps... and tour local gardens ...

and find local parks etc.. that have labeled collections ...

you are killing.. somehow.. some of the easiest stuff to grow...

and you want a list of easier things to grow ... i dont know what to tell you ..

but you havent given us any real facts to try to intuit what you are doing wrong ...

In my experience in growing in the heat and humidity of the deep south, petunias do better in the cooler times of the growing season. You'll find them for sale in the very early spring and in the fall, for example.

The perennial varieties of verbena are very sturdy and heat tolerant. Seed grown annuals are not. Do your homework before you buy.

I suggest that rather than blaming the plants (or your plant choices), you evaluate the growing conditions that you are providing. Plants consistently fail when something is wrong with their environment: bad soil, lack of good drainage, too much sun or shade depending on the plant, too much water, etc.

We really can't do much to help you unless you take a good hard look at what conditions you might be able to change.

In other words, trying other plants won't solve the problem if the condtions remain the same.

You may want to look at Angelonia, Pentas, Heliotrope, for annuals that love heat.

Are you growing in the ground or in containers?
