Petunia & Zinnias....Budworms or Loopers?!

Hi everyone,

Newbie first year gardener here!

Ugh! These pests are KILLING me! First in my beautiful hanging petunias-ate them in two days! Now I see them in my garden in my zinnias! And with all the endless research I've done, I cant tell if they are tobacco budworms/budworm caterpillars or cabbage loopers. I've seen all green ones and also seen ones with the brown stripes and dots.

I've tried the BT and it has helped some, but not completely. Any thoughts? And what works?

I haven't been able to find Pyrethin in HD stores, etc.,-I've read that its effective?

you NEVER apply chemicals.. organic or not.. UNTIL YOU ID THE PEST ...

post a pic and get an ID.. then contemplate how to get rid of them ...

guessing isnt good enough... ever

ken

ps: if you cant post a pic.. pluck a few into a plastic baggie.. and take it to a good nursery ....
