Hi, our nasturtiums have been growing like gang busters lately. The leaves are getting huge though, there are some that get to be 5, almost 6 inches in diameter, obscuring many of the flowers. Is this ok for the plant? I prefer it to flower more so than have giant leaves. Anything we should be doing to change this situation? Thanks!

hey where are you?? that is what fairly aggressive vines do in august .... it seems like your complaint.. is that it is doing.. what it is supposed to do ... that said.. i would also suggest.. that you are having a lot of fun .. in a very tiny spot of mother earth.. and an aggressive vine like this.. is NOT appropriate .... live and learn.. and start figuring out what you can grow there next year ... and finally.... too much of the wrong fert.. can favor green growth over flower ... did you feed them anything??? ken

We are in SF, transitional area so fog + sun exposure. I think the landlady may have put some fertilizer in there. I hadn't thought of that, but that would make sense. Thanks!

They look perfectly normal to me. We eat a lot of nasturtium leaves at this time of year. They are an excellent addition to a mixed salad. If you remove some of the larger leaves the flowers will be more visible..... until you eat them as well.

It's hit or miss with nasturtiums for me. Some years big leaves and masses of flowers; some years small yellow leaves and few flowers. Think it's the weather maybe. If you like them in that spot, keep growing them there. Every year will probably be different. I love the huge leaves.
