Marigold Damaged by Dog

Despite my dog snapping the marigold in half 2 weeks ago the plant still lives. Since there seems to be new growth under the break should I cut off the top portion?

Marigold 2

Marigold 1

is it bugging you????

on the one hand.. i might leave well enough alone.. fearing introducing a pathogen that it missed when the dog did it ...

on the other hand i might be anal enough to want it out of there...

regardless.. in a week or two.. you wont see it anyway ...

but if a had one or three such affected... i would do one for an experiment.. and leave the others.. compare and learn ...

No, its not bothering me at all. I just wasn't sure what would be best for the plant. I guess its getting some of the food from that one small part that it is attached to? I was surprised at how tough the marigold is.
