Solved the mystery of what was eating my cosmos flowers.

Earwigs. At night. They don't eat the c.sulphureus just the c.bipinnatus.
Doesn't seem like many people have this problem but if you do the way to stop those earwigs dead in their tracks is to leave a yellow bug light on over night
Fortunately my porch light is near enough and afar one night of leaving the light on I could really tell the difference in the reduction of the nibbling.
Its been a week now and the flowers get more and more beautiful with no munching going on.
I love to solve these garden mysteries.
