| Last year I purchased a hanging basket. It had purple violet like flowers, with dark foliage. Very easy to care for. Does anyone know the name of this particular basket? |

| We'll, "violet like flowers " could be pansies or violas. Look those up for comparison...if not what you're looking for, let us know and we can keep trying. Perhaps you could tweak your description. |

| Look for images of scaveola. I don't understand if you meant the flower form was violet like or if you were referring to the flower color. I've only grown scaveola in pots. Would love to know of success stories planting in the ground and what sort of spacing you used in the ground. Thanks, Rosie, Sugar Hill, GA |

| Did it hang down, like a vine, or stand up? What size were the flowers? Were they individual blooms, or a cluster of small ones? How large were the leaves? |

| Hope so. |

| Oh, dear, looks like she's a no-show. Hope we didn't scare her off, no one wants that, but we did need some details. Estelee, if you read this, please post again about your flowers! |

| Sadly, loads of people (especially brand new to GardenWeb like estelee) post a good question, get lots of answers, but then forget where they posted after that. Or, gardenweb's email system isn't working. I hear about that problem a lot. Purple, didn't you call another forum 'the Bermuda Triangle', or something like that? lol Ah, estelee, we hardly knew ye...... |

| Ha! That was restoration forum I think - about disappearing into the corn? I just hope she's in a better place now. In case she's just testing... Lobelia? |
|
| What happened to the plant ID Label that came with the hanging plant? I always try to keep at least one for a year if I like the plant, if not, out it goes. |
|
| Sorry, I never got to return to the forum. I have been so busy.. It wasn't a vine type. Almost like an African violet, but in a hanging planter.the flowers were violet that kind of came out of the center of the plant. It really was a pretty plant. Very delicate. I wish I had kept the label. But, I didn't . |
|
| Nope, it is not scaveola. The flower is like a violet. Small about the size of a dime . |

| I'm just about positive I know what it is - but have forgotten the name. Wow, just came to me. Is it this? See link. |
Here is a link that might be useful: streptocarpus
|
| I have been thinking streptocarpus as well but couldn't remember the name. Glad you did. |
|
| Yes. Yes. Yes, it is Streptocarpus. Stomandrus. Great, thank you Rosemary.. Now, where can I find this? It is really a beautiful plant. |

| Happy the mystery was solved. I bought one this year at a locally owned nursery. Impulse buy. Then read the hang tag when I got home and realized it wouldn't do well on my full sun patio. Gave to daughter. She was thrilled. End of story. Ha! Recommend you just call nurseries looking for it. At the big boxes you might find it with the indoor plants. Rosie |

| I have several of those, one is in a huge pot with some lobelia, they're also known as dancing violets here. The one in the big pot is the original, and i have another in a hanging pot and recently gave 2 of my GF ones that i started from cuttings.Pieces break off,i pick them up stick them in a pot and share them. Here they bloom real well and are east to take cuttings from. Kathi I usually hang out at cottage gardens, calif gardens, cactus and succulent forums among other places.Don't know why i never popped in over here. |
