Can we save vinca in winter?

Can we bring the vincas inside in winter? In warm areas these are perennial and flowering whole year around. So bringing them in will save the plants and also get some bloom in winter? Can we bring them in and take it out again in May?

My Mom lives in zone 5 and she's had vinca minor for years. She uses it as a groundcover and it winters over very nicely.
