Question about Celosia: Deadheading and Seeds

Posted by sammyyummy 11 (My Page) on

Hi.

My celosia cristata has began to droop to one side and wilt, and on its exposed side, the black seeds are very visible.

My questions are:

1) When do I deadhead my celosia? (How should it look, any visual keypoints to determine )
2) As the blooms are quite different from say zinnias and sunflowers of which I m familiar, how do I deadhead the stem in order to produce more blooms. (again any visual keypoints so I understand what you advise me)
3) How do I collect the seeds?

Thanks

Black seed are ready. It's been a while for cristata for me but IIRC I just shook them into a paper bag. Can't speak to deadheading and re-blooming as my season isn't long enough.
