This is a duplicate posting to one in the LA/MS forum. I am wondering if anyone here in the Deep South States has ever had success getting snapdragons to bloom throughout the winter? Or, do they just shed the retail store bloom and do nothing until late spring? (That's my experience.) If you have had success, what variety did you plant? Or, do you have some other trick like timing or fertilizing, or such? Thanks ever so much!

I am not in the deep south, but my snaps do bloom all winter here on the California coast. Al

Donna, I had them bloom for me through the winter when I lived zone 8b. ( Wouldn't even think about it here.) I honestly don't remember what variety...I usually ordered them by the hundreds of flats, so probably pretty ordinary stuff. Pansies were the only things that I contracted for special colors and varieties.

They bloom indoors if you treat them right - no reason they won't follow suit outdoors if it's warm enough for them to grow. Al |

Ok. Thanks all. I have reached the conclusion that although we have "mild" winters here, it is not mild enough for winter long bloom. I planted them anyway. They are lovely in late spring.
