i am an avid gardener. i love making and putting little objects in my beds. however, in the spring i am selling my home of 30 years and moving into an apartment. what do i do with all my plants and which ones do i take? i need to know which ones will over winter in pots outside as i live in the very frigid climate of manitoba, canada. any suggestions on how to downsize???????

What plants do you have? That would be helpful to know in order to give some advice. If you move to a place with a balcony, it might be possible if you do some protecting (and perhaps even create a little greenhouse or cold frame for extra protection). I know the Canadian Zones were setup somewhat different from the U.S. ones (I believe they start at "0" rather than "1"), so hopefully that can be taken into account.

i just have too many different perennials to list here. but i guess i will have to do some research over the winter and focus just on my favourites to keep.

You might be surprised that some of us have too many to list too... ;-) But I would agree when it comes to a major decision like that, the most favorite or even most sentimental are the ones that you might want to take and the rest you could consider either getting cuttings of or buying new.

Good luck and stop back when you're ready and/or settled in and we can fill you up in grand style!
