What's wrong with my lavender munstead?

Hi there,

I bought a baby lavender munstead from Bunnings in October and it was growing and blooming quite happily before I went away for two weeks over Christmas. However, the self-watering system I purchased seems to have failed and, when I returned, the lavender was a dry, crispy mess. Devastated, I pruned it right back and was then thrilled to see little green shoots sprouting within a few days. It's been just over two weeks now and yesterday I noticed the shoots were drooping. Any ideas what might be wrong?

My plants are growing on a balcony that gets full sun in winter and a good sliver of full sun in summer. The lavender was sitting in this sliver. I moved it out of the sliver yesterday thinking maybe the new shoots can't handle direct sun. I don't think underwatering is a problem. But do young ones need a lot more water?

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm a newbie balcony gardener and am so disappointed at this failure caused by just two weeks spent away!
