Plant suggestions for 32nd floor west facin balcony

Hello,
I have a reasonable sized west facing balcony on the 32nd floor. The balcony gets no direct sun at the moment, and very hot afternoon sun during Summer. I'd like to get a variety of plants to put on the balcony and was hoping that someone could help with a few suggestions and a recommendation for a garden center in Manhattan.
Thank you. |

| How many hours of sun does it get during the growing season in NYC, which is from around April 20th to Oct 10th? Geraniums, colorful and varied, stand up well on my west facing deck but need watering almost daily. Salvias and cockscomb also do well and come in different colors. |

Hi millie, Okra can take any heat & the seasonally continuous flowers are pretty. Choose dwarf/compact variety so less wind shorn at floor 32. Germination from seed would be in few days - start indoors for now. You probably can find the seed at H. Depot. |

| If you're trying to grow vegetables, I suggest covering all your pots with row cover, so the wind doesn't dessicate the leaves. I finally caught on to the benefits of this late last summer, and I've already got a bumper crop of lettuce and radishes. |
