Which grows faster? Nastutiums or Morning Glories.

I am going to try to grow a natural screen for my balcony and I was wondering if anyone could tell me which grows faster, climbing nasturtiums or morning glories?
Up to this point (the last two summers) everything but the native cactus has fried out there (the balcony faces West and also gets South sun).

TIA,

Not really sure which grows faster, but I'd opt for the morning glories (nasties may germinate faster, though).

Nasturtiums like the cooler weather. They won't do a thing in the heat. They do grow faster than morning glories albeit their growing and blooming times are at different time periods are different.

Thank you for the replies. I think based on the info I will put the Nasturtiums against the south wall of my balcony. There is a wall there so the full force of the sun doesn't hit until high noon. I know that they both like full sun but if the Nasties don't like too much heat at least they will have the morning in the cool shade of that wall until midday. I mainly wanted to know which grew faster because I didn't want one shading out the other while growing out this trellis idea I have. Now if I can just get them started and planted with out the cold nights killing them off!! I started some indoors but only three plants came up so far. One Morning Glory and two Nasturtiums.

Thanks Again,

Just a little side note. I started my morning glory last weekend and they are already 2 inches high and almost all of mine came up with in a day of planting them. What i did was roughed them up a bit with some sand paper and then i soaked them for about 20 hours and then poped them in little pellets with a cover( which only stayed on for 3 days) and then placed them in a sunny window. Now i have tons of them I just don't know what i will do with them all. Good luck

Thats right nicking and soaking morning glory seeds helps the germination from seeds in the packets. They reseed so much where I live I have them growing everywhere. Same with the nasturiums.
