Help, seedlings are croaking!

Had vinca seeds sprout like mad in little round peats in a tray (store bought), then they first leaves withered and the plants dried up/fell over. I doubt I underwatered but they shrivelled up. Overwatered or underwatered??? I saved about 10 (out of maybe 60) sprtous and moved the peats into larger containers - peats were very moist, so I added some potting mix but have not watered yet. What to do? I read some info about fungus causing this, but how did I get fungus from peat? I have impatiens just coming up from seed and do not want to ruin them as well. Thanks!

Probably the dreaded damping off, from overwatering and/or poor ventilation. Keep a window open nearby (but protect from freezing drafts), try running a small fan to create a gentle breeze, and keep the peat moist but not sodden: the consistency of a wrung-out sponge is the ideal.

I tried all kinds of seedlings, but finally figured out that it's not worthed.(Not enough ventilation, light, warm, not too warm etc.) You can buy Vinca plants very cheap today and make some cuttings (They grow very fast)
