Temporary hanging plant hook?

Posted by krasmania 5 (My Page) on

I live on the top floor of a condo comlex and would like to incorporate hanging plants into my balcony plan. Because there's no one above me, I don't have anything to drill into for a hook.

I have a brick wall on one side, but am hesitant about drilling into the brick.

In my head I'm picturing a shepherd's hook that can clamp onto my iron railing so I can hang plants off it. Does such an item exist? Is there another kind of hook I can anchor into my containers?

Thanks a million! I'm going to run out of space on the balcony floor this year and the only place to go is up!

RE: Temporary hanging plant hook?

I have small shepherd's hooks attached to my rail, so it can be done. Because my rail is a non-standard width/thickness, I have had to use zip ties to attach them, but there are some that are sold that have their own clamp. Sometimes you can find these online or at garden centers (even Home Depot occassionally offers them). Alternately, they sell shepherd's hooks that would be sunk into a pot of soil and then you can actually plant around it and hang a plant. I have seen large and small ones, so it depends on what size pot you have.

And welcome to the "ran out of space" club. LOL
