Manhattan euonymus in planter in 6B?

I have one of those wooden trellis-cum-planter box things on my deck and would like to plant it with something that would stay green year round on the trellis. I was thinking that Manhattan euonymus might work. If I try it should I do something special about trying to insulate the roots? Any other thoughts? Thanks!

They are listed as hardy to ~ Zone 5, so it should be okay. However the larger the planter, the better, as there would be less of a freeze/thaw cycle on it. The one thing that might be more of a concern, which applies to any of the larger-leaf evergreens, is winter burn. So you may need to protect it from the wind and sun in winter (maybe with some burlap).
