Hi bronxbill,
? Did you get your reply on the container gardening forum ?
Briefly (fill your pots with water to calculate volume);
determinate Tom & eggplant 1 each/ 5 gallon pot
pepper 1 each / 3 gallon pot

You didn't give the full dimensions of your planters, but Tomatoes, Eggplants, and Peppers require about one square foot each (for both roots and leaves). Assuming your planters are square, the 14" ones could each accomodate one Tomato or Pepper or Eggplant. If you prune the Tomatoes to a single vine and provide vertical support, you could probably put two Tomatoes in a 21" planter. You can plant 9 Bush Beans per square foot or 6-8 Pole Beans per linear foot (assuming a minimum planter width of 4-6").

I didn't mention depth in my previous posting, but your containers will need to be at least 6-9" deep for tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants (by the way, this translates into about 5 gallons per plant). You could get away with a somewhat shallower pot for beans.

thanks everyone for you input /sorry for the late reply but I don't have my own pc (almost a month - should be ready this week) I have alreay planted keeping all your great info in mind - so far so good (except for the white outer markings on the pole beans leaves) which I just posted.
thanks again and will reply quicker as soon as I get my own pc back.
