How to plant a 4 ' pot of petunia in a pouch

What size of petunia can you plant in a pouch? When buying a 4 inch pot of petunia the root ball is large. Whould shaking the dirt off and some of the roots fall off to. Would this kill it? I don't know other wise how to get the whole plant in the cut opening of the pouch and you are to use a soil less potting mix.

How about buying petunias in 4- or 6-plant pony-paks? They have considerably smaller root balls than a 4" pot.
