I thought some of you might be interested in some pictures from my garden. I'm on the second story of a three story apartment building in the Brighton section of Boston. The balcony faces almost due south so the front part of it gets good sun just about all day (hence the tomatoes are towards the front of the box and not the back as one might normally do.
The link below has several pictures, the two boxes contain tomatoes, red sails, buttercrunch and iceberg lettuce, pole and bush beans, nasturtium alaskas, leeks, swiss chard, genovese, sweet and purple basil, and mountain mint. The pictures show arugula as well but it bolted and has been replaced with carrots.
On the railing in baskets are sage, chives, catnip, oregano, thyme, marigolds, jalapeno peppers, and more lettuce. There is also a pot containing summer squash.
In the yard below are zucchini, bell peppers, and cucumbers. Unfortunately the landlord would not let me dig up his backyard so the back porch will have to do.
All food garden. heh heh That looks great! I like how you did the planter boxes propped on cinderblocks. They look really nice. I've seen pictures of similar up in roof gardens. And I like that adjustable pot holder on the rail. I've been looking for decent ones - especially windowbox size, because my metal rail is just so bizarre that many of the standard holders just don't work.
hey! I think we're neighbors! I'm also in Brighton.
I'm so jealous of your garden. Doing much better then mine. I'm recovering from a squirrel attack - lost a pepper 2 toms and found a cuke just lying there! I replanted it. We'll see what happens.
