starting to plan for next year...

Hi all,

I'm starting to wonder what I might want in my flower boxes next year. Specifically, I'm wondering if there's a way that I can plant a few different things in there in the fall and have things that come up in the spring and flower at different points throughout the summer. I think I didn't phrase that well, but hopefully you know what I mean.

Is that possible?

Oh, and my balcony is fully in the sun. One window box gets a little shade towards the end of the day, but the other three are in direct sun almost right from sun up to sun down.

If your window boxes are large enough you can plant bulbs like Asiatic lilies now for beautiful Spring blooms. Have you tried platycodon or gaillardia -- both do well in the sun. If planted now, well-mulched, you should enjoy the flowers all summer. Good luck.
