 o
herb containers and drainage

Hi! I am a new visitor to this site, and I have been learning so much from reading old posts.

Yesterday my local nursery was having a 40% off everything sale, so I bought a load of large herb plants, as well as 2 long plastic window boxes and brackets to attach them to my balcony railing (faces WNW).

I planted the following: basil, rosemary, sage, lavender, and mint (spearmint and peppermint).

But... I planted them all in the boxes with potting soil, and then I realized that there are no drainage holes :(

Will they all die if they don't have drainage holes, or can I just water carefully so as not to over-soak them?

Thanks so much!

I would just water carefully. If anything, by the time they are in full growth, they will need the extra water!!!!

Thanks, Jenny.
I just ended up repotting everything.
They're all in their own large pots now and have been doing great! I even had friends over for mojitos last week because the mint was doing so well :)

I bet they tasted great! I have some basil (from a clay seed ball) and oregano (wintered over) growing and am hoping they are well timed for the tomato harvest I have coming soon!

And forgot to say welcome to GW!!! Hope you find all the info that you are looking for! :-D
