Moonflowers on My Balcony - Pic

I could not contain my joy yesterday as I watched one of my Moonflowers slowly start to open as the day went on and by early evening, it was open. It was very cloudy yesterday too, that may have helped it along. I am totally amazed at how large the blossom is and so very fragal. Also, it smells wonderful, my dog thinks so too, I kept holding him back from sticking his nose in it. Anyway, I am posting a picture of it, this is a big deal for me, it's one of the first seeds I sowed this spring and one of the flowers I wanted most to bloom. There are quit a few buds so I'm hoping for a lot more blooms. Anyone else growing Moonflowers on their balcony?

Here is a link that might be useful: Moonflower

Linda: That's a beauty. I'm growing mooonflower bush for the first time this year. No blooms yet.

Isn't that great? The first bloom is just a teaser as it only gets better and better as the rest of the summer progresses into fall!

I usually grow them every year although the spot that always did best for them has been taken over by a honeysuckle the past 2 years, so I've had to put them elsewhere with other vines. There is such a tangle of vines where they are that I'm not sure whether they made it through the scarlet runners, morning glories, and hyacinth bean vines but I'll see.

Don't forget to save the seeds!

Jenny, funny you should say that, I thought the same thing with the tangled mess of vines I have surrounding the Moonflowers but they made it. I'm still waiting for blooms from my Scarlet Cardinal Climber and Heavenly Blue MGs. I think my Grandpa Otts have run their course, they are winding down now, in fact, I collect some seeds from them yesterday. It's not going to be pretty on my balcony come late fall!
