Rooftop deck

As part of a major home renovation project, my partner and I now have the rooftop deck we've dreamed about since buying our house in 2000. We have an urban rowhouse with limited space to expand, so we decided to go up! Since this is my first year with the deck I've gone a little crazy, and I didn't really think ahead to how much water all those plants in pots would require (every day, and for many of the bigger plants twice a day). Next year, fewer plants!

First, a view of the deck from our back garden (note: to view any photos full-size, click on the photo to get to my Flickr album, then click on "all sizes"):

The view out of our new third floor:

Looking out from the house:

A nice place to sit with our friends in the evening--we get a nice breeze and it's quite pleasant after the sun goes down, even on a hot day:

Looking back towards the house--the overhang has proven a very good idea, for getting out of the sun (and rain) and also provides shade for some plants:

BTW not all of these photos were taken at the same time (hence the differences in lighting and plant sizes--in fact most of the plants are now much larger than in these photos!)

Finally, a view of our back garden as seen from the deck:

Magnificent garden! I would love to sit in your garden while drinking my cup of coffee. I wish I can also have beautiful garden like yours. Thanks for sharing.
