New plans for the balcony

After reading soyaref's post and "balcony blues", i decided to ask for your help.
I think of changing the arrangement of flowerpots and plants.
This Summer, the kiwi vine was too hot and now it is burned. I'll have to move it between the 2 white arches (more shade) and maybe try a bigger pot.
And the bower will go, maybe I'll transform it : 2 more arches to grow some runner beans. The table was always stained red with flowers.
I need to keep some room for my favorites : tomatoes, pumpkins, beans, salad and radishes. I'll keep my "perennials" : sweet laurel, kiwi, tayberry, cherry tree 2 fig trees Japanese quince and 1 rose. All the jessamines and honeysuckle. Exit for the climbing rose, apple tree and jerusalem artichoke (easy to plan, not so easy to get rid of)
I'd like to take the alyssums out of some of my pots. Do you know a great but small sized plant to fill in gaps when I pick up my salads ? Red will be great.
And I want to keep the clotheline (above the pumpkin) I just roll it when not in use.
You may see the balcony as it was last year :

So now THIS is a real quiz LOL

lovely balcony! and such a cute kitty :) you could try red sedum, but that's perenial, not annual, however, it could really deal with the sun..begonias might be nice, there are some with reddish leaves and red flowers.

good luck :)

Hey agnes! Sorry I missed your message. I've been so busy this summer!

How about some bougainvillea along your walls? I think they may survive your winter if you really mulch and protect them. They seem to thrive on the heat and dry. You'd just have to prune them to keep them back and your kitty will probably stay away from it. LOL
