New to plants

Hi
I am very new to this! I am just starting out and want to try to welcome my home to some plants. All I have right now is a diffenbachia (sp) that my mom gave me. I don't know what is easy to grow or what I would like. I know I would like nice smelling plants but don't even know where to begin! I do know that I am open to learning and would like advice and maybe try some different plants. Please email me privately! I am really looking forward to meeting some wonderful people.
