HELP! Spring-blooming bulbs coming up now!

Posted by elbereth (My Page) on

The hyacinths and narcissus that I had in pots from last year are sprouting. Their leaves are already poking out of the soil, and the night temperatures are starting to hit zero and below. I covered the sprouting leaves with more soil, but I'm afraid they'll freeze before spring. I usually place my potted bulbs in insulated boxes. Should I do the same for these, or should I bring them inside to let them bloom? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi elbereth! My hyacinths from last year also potted are out of the ground just enough to see. I'm just leaving them be and I am guessing they will figure out what they need to do... I would say, if you have them in pots that you can manage, bring 'em on in and let them bloom!

If they do bloom, please post photos for us!
