WANTED: how do I know if my bonsai is dead?

Posted by nmboller 18013 (My Page) on

After moving 2 years ago, my bonsai started turning brown. All of the leaves have been brown for some time now, my husband keeps watering it and refuses to give up on it. I think it just didn't get enough sun after we moved, we do not have a lot of sun in any of our windows. Is there a way to tell if a bonsai is dead? After 2 years I have been ready to give up on it for some time now, but my husband won't give up on it. Any advice?
Thanks.

RE: WANTED: how do I know if my bonsai is dead?

Bonsai need special care such as root trimming and regular fertilization. They also need lots of light (generally outside light) and almost daily watering. I have had a number of bonsai, and I have lost a few of them. Unless it is a decidious tree and just hasn't greened up for spring, it is probably dead. Sorry for your loss.
