new to bonsai art

I recently purchased a dwarf juniper. I immediatly removed it from the small pot that contained horrible soil. Replaced it in a larger bonsai pot using potting soil. I didn't prune any roots even though I got rid of all the loose soil in the root ball. Also after repotting I watered using a 20-20-20 fertilizer. Also before repotting I pruned a lot of unwanted foilage. Any good advice and or book titles

A good beginner book (but certainly not the only one): The Bonsai Workshop by Herb L. Gustafson.

I would be worried that since you used regular potting soil AND moved the tree into a larger pot, AND pruned back the foliage, that the soil will stay wet for far too long, causing root rot. Bonsai soil is typically very-well draining, and sometimes doesn't appear to be "soil" to most people. So my advice would be to be extremely careful in watering it - do not keep the soil most! Allow it to dry out in between waterings.
