I am not sure, the spiral apperance looks like a rhodadendron. Where did you get it? Any buds or flowers to help with the ID? Succlent or evergreen? Have you visited the library, your local extention agent or the local university botony department? Their job is to teach and help and they will be glad to.

Looks like a schefflera arbicola to me.

I think its looks more like something in the rhodie family also. Scheffs' leaves aren't as veiny, are shinier (when healthy) and have a more gentle rounding of the edges.

I wondwer if its some tropical like a Plumeria.
