Thanks...This picture was taken the day I left. Mr. Kobayashi took me to a few nurseries the day before and he was looking for something different to display (and sell!) in his garden. We came across a nursery man selling a few willow bonsai, all very similiar to this one...big trees. In my best Japanese I told him we have many willow growing in the states.

The day the picture was taken a typhoon was going to hit tokyo about the time my plane was going to depart. When I got to the plane we boarded early and were able to take off safetly and on time. When I arrived home, the senpai (head apprentice) emailed me and told me the typhoon hit less than an hour after I took off! I felt very lucky for this....I also felt my first earthquake there.

I'm not sure which I like more, the tree or the stone it's sitting on. The two together are spectacular.

Simple so often can speak volumes over being busy to the point of clutter.
