Pinus strobus back budding.

I have had this PS forest of 7 trees for 4 years.

The oldest and tallest tree has 3 pom poms on the end.

I have tried fall needle cutting and spring bud cutting but I am not able to get it to back bud.

Did any one else have this problem, can any thing be done or is this one of the pines that does not back bud.

Any help will be appreciated.

Try waiting till early sumer then cut the candles down by 2/3 in the longest and strongest candles and by 1/2 in the weaker areas. This might work.
