It's too late this year for the tree to go dormant (whatever happened to it before you got it), so if you think you can keep it going inside for now, good luck. But put it outside in e.g. late April and make sure the wind on your balcony isn't too strong - a little is ok, but a lot can be drying - balconies are notorious for that. And once it's outside, leave it for life so that it does get needed dormancy next fall. I'm sure in your research it talks about how to protect a small pot in winter (your tree can normally deal with temps down to 15-20 F. if the pot is well mulched in a larger container where you live).

So far it looks to be happy but I'll keep an eye on it for any deterioration.

My balcony does get some wind but I grow so much other stuff on there that I can provide it with plenty of protections. I also have a little mini greenhouse out there.

For next winter, some years we get a few arctic blasts, temps around 5-15 degrees that last anywhere from 1-4 days. I assume I could bring it inside during those times or should I figure something out with the greenhouse?

Figure out something with the greenhouse, etc... you could e.g. bring it in for one day, but after that depending on ?? it may not only warm up a lot but start to come out of dormancy.

Seems to be doing good so far. I have it nestled in between my Meyer lemon and kumquat tree, and it seems happy. Let's see how much longer I can keep this going. I will post an update in 1 month.
