Hello all. I just purchased my very first bonsai yesterday and am very interested in getting started correctly. I am thinking it would be a good idea to know exactly which type of tree I have so I can care for it correctly. I appreciate any feedback and help or tips you can give me. I am very enthusiastic about taking up this hobby and look forward to some amazing trees in my collection.

Hi there, It looks like you have a Singapore Holly, but I'm not totally sure. The leaves are definitely an indicator of a holly though. It's easy to care for and should give you some nice white flowers if fertilized well. Good luck and hopefully someone will come along and give you a positive ID!

Hey Thams, I really appreciate the information. I will begin looking into this particular tree to avoid making any mistakes. I really want to get off on the right foot. Thanks again for your time...

Yes it's a Singapore Holly or Dwarf Holly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malpighia_coccigera
