| I am considering trying my hand at bud-grafting a Fernleaf Beech (Fagus sylvatica 'asplenifolia').
I’ve seen many 'how to' bud-grafting articles and it seems straight forward enough, but the buds in those articles are always growing right off the bark whereas all of the Beech buds (at my disposal) are borne at the tip of long twigs. I can’t see how those can be applied to the normal bud-graft technique. Can they? Can it be done? Has anyone any experience in bud-grafting the Beech who can give me some tips and encouragement? |

| looks like you might have to try a side vaneer or get a little bigger piece and try a cleft. i have limited graft experiance and being in florida not sure if beech even grows here. but from the picture of the buds unless you get some buds form allong the stem looks like bud grafting from tip buds is not going to happen. |
